A Japanese man who spent thousands of dollars to create a realistic costume of a Collie dog to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming a dog shared a video of his first public walk.

The man, known only by his nickname Toco, can be seen interacting with people and other dogs in the five-minute video, posted on his YouTube channel last Friday (28). Toco said that it was filmed last year during an interview with the German channel RTL.

“Fortunately, I received permission to use the videos, so I’m releasing them to the public! On the day of the interview, they were very kind to me,” Toco wrote in the video description.

In most of his videos, Toco skillfully behaves like a four-legged furball. His feat seems to be well received by both viewers and dogs, although some dogs show initial fear upon approaching Toco.

Toco gained global fame last year after hiring the company Zeppet to create the suit for him. The entire costume cost him 2 million yen, about R$ 76,000 at the time.

Since then, Toco has narrated his journey on his YouTube channel, which now has about 39,000 subscribers. While fans celebrate Toco for living his dream, the anonymous canine has been adamant about not revealing his identity, especially to co-workers.

“I don’t want my hobbies to be known, especially by the people I work with,” he told the Daily Mail last year.

Even with friends, Toco remains cautious. “I rarely tell my friends because I’m afraid they’ll think I’m weird,” he told The Mirror in December.
